About Company Ventures
Company Ventures is a New York venture firm that grew out of Grand Central Tech, a startup residency launched in 2014 in Midtown Manhattan. The residency still runs under the Grand Central Tech name. It gives early-stage startups a dedicated workspace for 12 months with zero rent and zero equity. That makes it a residency, not a classic accelerator: no cash investment comes with admission.
The program was tied to 335 Madison Avenue, a building owned by the Milstein family that was later rebranded as Company, a technology campus in Midtown. Company Ventures also operates as a seed-stage investor. When it does invest in residents, it says it does so at market terms, and admission does not guarantee an investment.
Residents get access to a network the firm puts at more than 2,500 founders, operators, investors and experts, plus guidance on hiring, fundraising, go-to-market and growth. The residency page reports more than 500 resident companies over time and $4.4B+ raised across 213 program companies.
Recent cohorts have included AI infrastructure startups and AI applications in insurance, manufacturing and healthcare. The firm runs two cohorts a year. The Fall 2025 cohort had a July 23 deadline, and no date for the next window was published at the time of writing. An older report said residents committed to rent space in the building after the program, so read the current residency agreement before you sign.
What Company Ventures looks for
Company Ventures publishes three criteria. You should be building a scalable technology company, you should value community and collaboration, and your team should be committed to building full time. There are no published revenue, incorporation or funding-stage requirements. Recent cohorts leaned toward AI infrastructure and applied AI in insurance, manufacturing and healthcare. Teams that will use the space every day and take part in the community get the most from a free year in Midtown.
How the Company Ventures program works
The Grand Central Tech residency lasts 12 months. Accepted startups get a dedicated workspace for the full year in Company Ventures' Midtown Manhattan space, with no rent and no equity taken. Cohorts start twice a year, in spring and fall.
Programming covers hiring, fundraising, go-to-market and growth, delivered by the Company Ventures team and its network of 2,500+ founders, operators, investors and experts. There is no stipend and no standard investment. The firm may invest in some residents separately, at market terms.
The residency suits teams that want a free Manhattan office and close access to New York investors during their first year of building.
