About Lanzadera

Lanzadera is a startup accelerator in Valencia, Spain. It is part of Marina de Empresas, a business complex promoted by Juan Roig, president of supermarket group Mercadona, which also houses the EDEM business school and the investor Angels. Lanzadera has been accelerating startups since 2013 and says it has trained more than 1,800 entrepreneurs, with a 70% survival rate.

The Financial Times ranked it among the top three accelerators in Spain and Portugal for three years in a row. The program is free, takes no equity and does not pay living stipends. The cost is time.

Lanzadera expects founders to work on the project full time and be on campus in Valencia at least three days a week. Its method is the Modelo de Calidad Total, the management framework that Mercadona uses, applied to startup decisions. Each startup gets a diagnosis of where it stands, called Point A, and a plan to reach a target, Point B, over six to twelve months.

Investment is separate: Angels, also part of Marina de Empresas, invests in Lanzadera companies and says it made 35 investments in its first three years. Portfolio companies on the Lanzadera site include Holafly, Gana Energía, Sepiia, Fourvenues and Shakers. Applications are open until 14 December 2026, with the next program starting on 8 March.

What Lanzadera looks for

Lanzadera prioritises founders with execution ability, scalable businesses, demonstrated traction, exclusive full-time commitment, customer focus and the ambition to expand internationally from Spain. According to coverage of its latest call, 88% of selected startups were already invoicing. Solo founders and unregistered companies can apply, but applicants must be adults. Lanzadera recommends students finish their studies first. Founders should be ready to move to Valencia or spend most of the week there.

How the Lanzadera program works

The program is a tailored training plan that lasts six months and can be extended to twelve. It starts with intensive sessions to diagnose the company, define Point A and Point B and draw the execution plan. Next comes the landing phase, with practical workshops on the Modelo de Calidad Total, metrics, management and growth, plus one-to-one mentoring based on each startup's needs.

Each startup has a dedicated project director who meets the team weekly and holds them to their goals. A calibration phase then reviews results with real data and adjusts the plan. At the end of the program, Lanzadera measures whether the startup reached Point B and decides on continuation.

Companies on a six-month plan can extend six more months to focus on expansion.0, a community for founders who keep scaling. Startups preparing to raise can follow an investment track with possible referral to Angels.
