Most early sales teams do not have a lead problem. They have a timing problem. The founder or first rep has a long list of companies and no clear idea who to contact this week, or why.
Amplemarket Duo Copilot is built for that gap. Amplemarket describes it as an AI sales assistant that helps reps identify who to contact, understand why it matters, and reach out with the right message at the right time. This guide covers how Duo Copilot works, a copy-paste setup kit, and a 30-day rollout plan. It is built from Amplemarket's own product pages and help center. We have not run it on our own account, so this is a setup guide, not a review.
How Duo Copilot works
Duo Copilot is part of Amplemarket's Duo suite. It runs multiple AI agents that work together across signals, research and outreach. The daily loop has four steps:
- 1Find. AI agents scan your market every day for buying signals. Duo surfaces the people to contact, not only the accounts.
- 2Explain. Research agents gather the context behind each signal: the person, the account and the signal details.
- 3Draft. Duo prepares a multichannel sequence tailored to that person and that signal, learning from your past conversations.
- 4Decide. You send, edit, regenerate or dismiss. Duo learns from every action.
In Amplemarket's demo, you do not write prompts or trigger agents each morning. Duo runs the search every 24 hours and the results wait in your feed. Amplemarket also states that reps stay in control at every step and that Duo never sends or changes things without visibility.
The signals Duo Copilot can watch
Amplemarket's signals page says it tracks 20+ signals. The Duo page lists job changes, closed-lost reactivation, competitor reviews, community and social activity, content engagement and custom signals from your CRM. The signals page adds funding, hiring trends and company announcements.
Duo works at the contact level. Instead of only flagging an account that shows intent, it surfaces the specific people showing buying signals.
Custom CRM signals deserve attention from any startup with some history. Amplemarket's launch video describes the setup: choose person level or company level, point Duo to a source in your CRM such as a CRM report, optionally map extra context fields, and add instructions for how Duo should approach those leads. You can also bring signals in via API.
Where every setting lives
Amplemarket's help center lists five things you can customize so Duo's sequences match your preferences.
| Setting | Where to edit it | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
| Company value propositions | Settings → Duo Control Center → Messaging Settings | Every sequence |
| Tone of voice | Settings → Duo Control Center → Messaging Settings | Every sequence |
| Sequence instructions | Settings → Duo Control Center → Messaging Settings | Every sequence |
| Agent prompt | Settings → Duo Control Center → Duo Copilot → Agents → Output step | Leads from that agent |
| Competitor battlecards | Settings → Duo Control Center → Duo Copilot → Competitors | Competitor-related agents only |
Only account admins can change agent prompts and battlecards. The agent prompt applies on top of your Messaging Settings.
New signals are created separately. Go to the Signals page, click New signal, choose from the signal library, then configure filters and distribution.
Copy-paste setup kit
Example only. The templates below are written for a made-up company, "Northpine", a B2B SaaS tool that helps finance teams at 50 to 500 person companies close the books faster. Replace every detail with your own. The settings names match Amplemarket's help center. The content is ours.
1. ICP and signal map
Ideal customer: VP Finance, Controller or Head of Finance at B2B software companies with 50 to 500 employees, in North America and Europe.
| What we want to catch | Duo signal type to use |
|---|---|
| A past champion joins a new company | Job changes (former users or champions moving) |
| A deal we lost may be ready again | Closed-lost reactivation |
| A finance lead complains about a competing tool | Competitor reviews |
| Someone asks for close process advice in a finance Slack group | Community activity (Slack communities) |
| A target company raises a round | Funding |
| A target company hires several accountants | Hiring trends |
| A trial user is near the end of their trial | Custom CRM signal, person level |
| A demo was booked but the lead did not show up | Custom CRM signal, person level |
Start with three of these, not eight. We would pick job changes, closed-lost reactivation and one custom CRM signal, because they build on relationships you already have.
2. Company value propositions
Paste into Messaging Settings → Company value propositions:
Northpine helps finance teams close the month with fewer spreadsheets and fewer manual reconciliations.
>
Value propositions by persona:
- VP Finance / CFO: one place to see close progress and blockers across the team.
- Controller: automated reconciliation checks and a clear audit trail for every adjustment.
- Finance Ops: fewer handoffs between the ERP, the bank and spreadsheets.
>
Social proof: pick the most relevant case study from this list and only use it when it matches the prospect's industry: [your case study link 1], [your case study link 2].
The help center confirms you can break value propositions down by persona or territory, and that Duo picks the right one for each prospect.
3. Tone of voice
Paste into Messaging Settings → Tone of voice:
Plain, direct and peer to peer. Write like a former controller talking to another finance leader. Short sentences. No hype words, no exclamation marks. Ask one clear question per message. Lead with the signal, then one relevant problem, then the ask.
4. Sequence instructions
Paste into Messaging Settings → Sequence instructions:
Follow this structure:
Day 1: Visit the lead's profile and like their most recent post.
Day 2: Send a connection request and a first email that names the reason we reached out.
Day 5: Follow-up email with one relevant case study from the value propositions.
Day 8: A short LinkedIn message: "Hi {{first name}}, I sent you a note about {{reasons why we reached out}}. Worth a quick chat?"
Day 12: Final email with a link to our two-minute product video: [your video link].
Amplemarket's own example uses this format, with days, steps, a template for one step and links to include.
5. Agent prompt (closed-lost reactivation agent)
Paste into Duo Copilot → Agents → [your agent] → Output step → "How this agent writes to the leads it finds":
These leads evaluated Northpine before and did not buy. Do not pitch from scratch. Open by acknowledging we spoke before. Reference the signal that brought them back. Mention one thing that is relevant to them now, taken from the value propositions. Keep the first email under 90 words. Offer a short call, not a demo.
6. Competitor battlecard
Paste into Duo Copilot → Competitors → [competitor]:
When a lead engages with Competitor A, do not criticize Competitor A. Acknowledge that many teams start there. Position Northpine on one difference only: our focus on the month-end close for mid-sized software companies. Ask what their close looks like today.
Duo only uses battlecards for competitor-related agents, for example when someone engages with a competitor's post.
Working the feed and teaching Duo
Open a recommended prospect. Review the contact, company and signal details, plus the account insights. Then edit, regenerate or send the suggested sequence. Amplemarket lists email, social, calls, WhatsApp and more as possible channels.
Duo learns from three kinds of feedback:
- Dismissals. When you dismiss a lead as the wrong company or person, you share the reason in the feed. Duo uses it to avoid similar leads.
- Team-wide learning. Feedback on one recommendation helps improve others across signals and personas.
- Edits. When reps keep editing sequences the same way, Duo picks up the pattern and updates messaging preferences.
Always give a reason when you dismiss. A silent dismissal teaches nothing.
To track results, go to Analytics → Duo Copilot and click Leads Generated. Each lead shows a status: Pending action, Sequenced, Pushed to CRM (Salesforce or HubSpot), Added to List, Dismissed or Stale. Leads go stale after 14 days without action. The drilldowns also include an Autopilot column that separates leads an agent sequenced automatically from leads a rep accepted.
First 30 days with Duo Copilot
This is our suggested rollout plan. It is a plan, not a promise of results.
| Week | Focus | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Week 1 | Setup | Fill in the three Messaging Settings. Create two or three signals. Write one agent prompt. Set territories if more than one person sells. |
| Week 2 | Calibration | Review the feed daily. Dismiss with a reason every time. Note which edits you keep making and move them into Tone of voice or Sequence instructions. |
| Week 3 | Review statuses | Open Analytics → Duo Copilot. Check how many leads are Sequenced, Dismissed and Stale. A rising Stale count means the feed produces more than you review, or a signal is too broad. |
| Week 4 | Expand | Keep the signals that produce leads you act on. Add one custom CRM signal and one competitor battlecard. Decide whether to keep reviewing every lead by hand. |

Who Duo Copilot fits, and who should wait
Good fit: a startup with a defined ideal customer, one person who owns outbound, and some CRM history. Custom CRM signals turn data you already have into a daily list of people to contact.
Good fit: founders who sell part time. The research and first draft are done before you open the app. Your job becomes review and judgment.
Wait: teams with no positioning yet. Duo writes from your value propositions, tone and sequence instructions. If you cannot fill in the kit above, fix that first.
Wait: teams that cannot review the feed every few days. Leads go stale after 14 days, and Duo learns from your actions.
If you run ABM on a fixed account list, look at Duo Accounts too. Amplemarket positions it as the starting point for ABM teams, while Duo Copilot starts from people and signals.
