About Merantix AI Campus
Merantix AI Campus is a coworking hub and community space for artificial intelligence in Berlin. It is not an accelerator. It does not invest and takes no equity.
The campus is run by Merantix, the Berlin AI investment platform, and it doubles as Merantix's headquarters. The team moved in during spring 2021. The founders describe it as not-for-profit.
The building is at Max-Urich-Strasse 3 in Berlin Gesundbrunnen. It covers 6,000 m2 over 3 floors, with 25+ meeting and workshop rooms, 33+ phone booths, 2,000 m2 of shared community space and 4 outdoor areas. The campus says it hosts 80+ AI teams and runs 300+ events a year.
Residents get access to a network of about 1,600 campus members and 12,000 people in its wider AI community. Residents are a mix of startups, corporate AI teams, investors, researchers and public bodies. Membership runs from a single membership up to private offices of 9, 21 or 40+ desks.
Prices are not published. The most program-like offer is the Hacker Room, a 4-month residency for AI engineers working on infrastructure, model architectures and applied research. Cohorts are about 8 people and end with a demo day.
Recurring community formats include the Women's AI Breakfast, CTO Roundtable, AI Reading Group, AI4Science breakfasts and the Packets and Protocols infrastructure meetup.
What Merantix AI Campus looks for
The campus wants teams whose core work is AI. Residents include startups, corporate AI labs, investors, research groups and public organizations, so there is no stage requirement. The Hacker Room is more selective. It looks for engineers going from minus 1 to 0 on technically deep projects: core infrastructure, new model architectures and applied AI research with a clear real-world use. Past residents built legal AI on cheap LLM inference, a dual-arm repair robot, and local proxies for using frontier models on private code.
How the Merantix AI Campus program works
There are two ways in. The main one is Residency. Teams rent a private office or desks, get 24/7 use of the shared floors, meeting rooms and event spaces, and join the campus community.
There is no fixed cohort, curriculum or end date. The second is the Hacker Room, a structured 4-month community residency for individual AI engineers. Each cohort has about 8 residents with dedicated desks on campus.
The Hacker Room reports 20+ alumni and held demo days in August 2025, December 2025 and August 2026. Around both sits the event program: weekly paper discussions, monthly Unconferences on engineering AI, Coffee and Code sessions, hackathons and breakfasts for founders, CTOs and investors. No funding, curriculum fee or equity is attached to either format.
Residents pay rent for their space.
